This Season’s Record: 66-59-14 (+1.1 Units)
Matchweek 10 Record: 4-3-3 (+0.9 Units)
Last weekend was a step in the right direction. Now we turn around for Matchweek 4 of the Champions league where many matches have do-or-die implications and I have picks for Napoli/PSG, Inter/Barca and Juve/Man U. Let’s rock and roll.
Tuesday, November 6th
Galatasaray @ FC Schalke – FC Schalke came into their Champions League campaign in serious trouble as they were sitting in last place and hadn’t won a match yet. Things are looking up now as they’ve only lost one of their last eight and are coming off of a big home win. They will go against a Galtasaray side who is coming off of a super emotional draw against their bitter rivals Fenerbahce, they haven’t won a match in their last four and are 0-1 away from home in the Champions League. FC Schalke (-1, -110).
FC Barcelona @ Inter Milan – Lionel Messi will be out for another match as he’s still recovering from his broken arm but Barca have been pretty good without him. They’ve won all four of their matches which included matches against this Inter team and Real Madrid by a combined score of 11-4. But none of their big matches without Messi have been away from home and Inter have the chance to lock up the Round of 16 at home here. I like Inter as home underdogs in this one as I think Barca have their first slipup without Messi in the raucous San Siro. Inter Milan (+0.5, -120).
PSG @ Napoli – This is probably the best game with implications this week as the winner of this one will control their destiny to the Round of 16. PSG will be traveling to a hostile San Paolo Stadium in Naples but I will look to lean on their side of the pickem in this one and here’s why. PSG are currently on a twelve match unbeaten streak and it will take a lot to knock them off of their form right now. This team is too good to lose in this big of a match when their entire season relies on the Champions League and I love them here even with a juiced pickem line. PSG (Pick, -125).
Lokomotiv Moscow @ FC Porto – Moscow have gone 0-0-3 this year in Group D while Porto currently lead that group and can clinch the next round with a win. The line is (1.5) which is a lot but I realized how bad of a bet +1.5 is with Moscow going east to Portugal against a Porto team who beat them 3-1 in Russia two weeks ago. Porto (-1.5, -105).
PSV Eindhoven @ Tottenham – Spurs come into this match in a must-win situation and may need an FC Barcelona win in the process in order to have a shot at advancing. The fact that it’s a must-win at Wembley makes me want to pick them regardless of the spread but there’s more to it than that. Spurs want revenge after their tough draw at PSV a few weeks ago and they’ve had two huge away wins, making it a perfect storm at home. Spurs keep their Champions League dreams alive for one more week. Tottenham (-1.5, +105).
Wednesday, November 6th
Manchester United @ Juventus – Juve might be the best top to bottom team in the world right now. They’ve yet to lose and only have one draw through their fourteen matches this season. United meanwhile barely sit in seventh place in the Premier League and are 1-1-1 in Group H with undefeated Juventus at the top. One is trending to the moon and the other has been below average all season long and there’s NO WAY I’m going to fade Juve at home here. That’s why I’m making this a Three Unit play. Juventus (-1, +105) 3 UNIT PLAY.
Shakhtar Donetsk @ Manchester City – I’m going to start picking City no matter what the game is until they lose form. They have won their last five matches by a combined 17-1 and with a win here they can clinch a spot in the next round. I just can’t fade City right now, especially at home. Manchester City (-2.5, -105).
Thursday, November 7th
Major League Soccer Playoffs
Portland Timbers @ Seattle Sounders – In one of the biggest editions of MLS’ best rivalry, the Timbers and the Sounders will play for a spot in the Western Conference Finals. In Leg 1 in Portland, the Timbers took advantage and won 2-1 to take control of the Quarterfinal but they’ll have to go to Seattle where the Timbers have won once in the league since the 2013 playoffs. To add to that, Seattle has only has three losses in their last twenty matches in the league and earned the #1 seed for a reason. I like Seattle to win this match and move on to the Quarterfinals. Seattle Sounders (-0.5, -110).
That’s all for the midweek’s slate of matches! Don’t forget to follow on Twitter and on Facebook as well as Subscribe!!
Stay Kickin’ It. Peace.
