Premier League Matchweek 9

Sort of got myself back on track this week with a 3-3-1 record to stay above water with a positive total record. I didn’t lose any 3 of my featured games which tempts me to feature every game but that’s more work for me and I’m just too lazy. Also got my 69th win… nice. So, still yet to have a losing total record and I don’t plan on that starting now.

Let’s get this party started.

Total Record: 69-67-13, 13-14 (55% Win/Draw rate)

Champions League Quick Hits: Tottenham traveled to Madrid to play a Real Madrid team who are playing like a shit version of themselves from last season. They stole a MASSIVE point in Madrid to shock Los Blancos. Manchester City played another great game behind Kevin De Bruyne to take a 2-1 victory at home to Napoli. Dortmund played a stinker in Cyprus against APOEL with a shocking draw while Atletico also had a horrible draw against Qarabag… Qarabag folks. Chelsea and Roma played to an awesome 3-3 draw as the Blues took a 2-0 first-half lead until Roma scored 3 straight including a stunner from Dzeko. Hazard pulled one back to make the final score 3-3. Barca, PSG and Bayern all rolled to victories.

Premier League Matches:
Friday:

Brighton & Hove Alboin @ West Ham United (-130)

Saturday:

Burnley (+3) @ Manchester City
Crystal Palace @ Newcastle United (-105)
Leicester City (PICK -115) @ Swansea City

Sunday:

When you see an average Saturday slate then you see what’s in store on Sunday:

Arsenal @ Everton 8:30 am ET

Everton are coming into this game looking like a Scott Dubrow Sunday morning (shit) and Arsenal playing… meh. If you look at this matchup with how these teams have been playing you’d probably sleep in and overlook it. But a win for either one of these teams would be HUGE not only for the team’s form but for their managers. Koeman of Everton arguably has his job on the line over these next few weeks especially if he drops all 3 points at home and the #WengerOut crew would have every right to be calling for Wenger’s head if they drop closer to the 10 spot in the table. I LOVE Everton being home underdogs here in essentially a must-win game. I know it’s tough coming off a Thursday midweek European match but they rested several starters knowing the importance of this game. Everton +½.

Liverpool @ Tottenham 11:00 am ET

Liverpool coming off a big 7-0 Champions League victory against Maribor (yes, it’s Maribor but still impressive) and Tottenham coming off something much more impressive, getting points away against Real Madrid (TOT +1½ was a LOCK). Liverpool since the start of last year have played exceptionally well against the ‘Top 5’ and Wembley hasn’t treated Tottenham well as of late. Some places have Tottenham -½ and some have them as PICK -125, so I’m gonna go with the safer play as Tottenham won’t drop all 3 points at home with the form they’re playing in. Although I love the DRAW odds at +250, I hate giving out DRAW picks so let’s roll with Tottenham PICK (-125).

Bonus Serie A Pick:
Inter Milan @ Napoli (-1)

BONUS PICK: It’s Whiteout time in Happy Valley as the Michigan Wolverines head into State College to try to knock off the #2 Penn State Nittany Lions. No shot for Michigan, take Penn State -9½ and I’m counting that to my tally for the weekend. 28-10 PSU. Shoutout Andrew Lehr.

Awesome weekend of sports. From soccer continuing its 9-month stretch with league play and Champions League, the NFL in full swing, NBA and NHL just starting up and the MLB is so back with these playoffs, enjoy these times people they don’t come around often. What a time to be alive.

Stay kickin’ it. Peace.
